Afghan president receives UAE ambassador


(MENAFN- Emirates News Agency (WAM)) President of Afghansitan, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, has received Ambassador of the UAE to Afghanistan, Yousef Saif Khamis Al Ali, at the Presidential Palace in Kabul.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the bilateral relations and avenues of cooperation between their two countries, as well as the approved projects to be implemented by the UAE after the opening of the office of the humanitarian and development aid attache at the UAE Embassy in Kabul.

The said projects included the Sheikh Zayed University in Khost province, Dar Al Ifta (institution which issues fatwas or religious edicts) in Kabul, water wells, a polytechnic institute in Kabul, an orphanage in Kandahar, 100 scholarships for Afghan students, as well as the secondment of 10 people to the UAE for two weeks to learn about the country's' higher education system.

The Afghan president expressed appreciation of the UAE's assistance.

He requested the ambassador to convey his greetings to the wise leadership of the UAE.
