(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Senegal President Macky Sall has praised the support offered by HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani to Senegal and the African Continent, regarding rule of law issues and the fight against corruption.
Speaking at the opening session of the Ministerial Conference on Strengthening the Rule of Law and the Fight Against Corruption in Africa, the president underlined the need for the fight against corruption and the adherence to the rule of law in Africa.
Qatar's Attorney General HE Dr Ali bin Fetais al- Marri, the UN special advocate for stolen asset recovery, delivered a speech at the conference, in which he reiterated the Qatar's commitment to supporting the rule of law and the fight against corruption in various countries around the world through partnerships with the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption Centre and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.
Justice ministers of 16 African countries are participating in the conference in addition to senior government and UN officials.
On the sideline of the conference, HE the attorney general held bilateral meetings with the justice ministers of Niger, Burkina Faso, Chad, Guinea, Cape Verde and Nigeria. The meetings dealt with ways to support African countries in the field of the rule of law and the fight against corruption.
