Saudi airport awarded prestigious aviation honor


(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) Saudi Arabia's Medina Airport has been selected as best airport in its category at the Routes Marketing Awards, one of the aviation sectors most prestigious honors.
The airport - operated by TAV, Turkey's leading global brand in airport operations € was ranked top in the 4 million to 20 million passengers category.

"We are glad to receive the Routes Award, one of the most significant events for airline companies and airport operators, thanks to our operations at Saudi Arabia's Medina Airport, which we have put into operation by an investment of $1.2 billion," Aslihan Cortuk, TAV marketing director, said in a statement.

The company said Medina, Islam's second most sacred site, had particular importance for TAV.

The airport was the first public-private sector project in the Gulf region.

"With this award, our operational success in the marketing sector is also officially recognized," Cortuk added. "We will continue working hard in order to provide the best travel experience to our passengers."

TAV operates two of Turkey's busiest airports - Istanbul Ataturk and Ankara Esenboga - as well as Izmir Adnan Menderes, Gazipasa Alanya and Milas Bodrum airports.

It also operates Tbilisi and Batumi in Georgia; Monastir and Enfidha-Hammamet in Tunisia; Skopje and Ohrid in Macedonia; and Zagreb in Croatia.

TAV is active in other areas of airport operations including duty-free, food and beverage, ground handling, IT and security and operation services.
