Sacred Heart School 8th grade student Olivia Colombo named one of top 30 nationally in computer science competition

Sacred Heart School (www.sacredheartkingston.com) a private Catholic co-educational school for students in preschool through grade 12 proudly announces that eighth grade student Olivia Colombo of Kingston Massachusetts has been named one of the top 30 students in the national ProjectCSGirls Middle School Computer Science Contest.

 

ProjectCSGirls is a non-profit organization aimed to cultivate a love for technology and computer science in girls and encourage them to pursue their interests and careers in these fields. The competition featured projects from around the country designed by girls to actively use computer science and technology to develop a solution to an imminent social problem.

 

Colombo’s entry “The Green Highway Project” demonstrates how highways can be utilized as a new source of renewable energy.

 

She will travel to Washington D.C. later this summer to attend the annual ProjectCSGirls Gala.
