Spain's unemployment rate down 2.72 percent

(MENAFN) The number of people registered as unemployed in Spain fell by 2.72 percent from April to May, the biggest drop for May since records began, Xinhua reported.

The drop meant 117,985 fewer people unemployed in the country, leaving a total of 4,215,031 people registered as unemployed, the Spanish Ministry of Labor released data showed.

The Ministry said that on a year-on-year basis, the number of people registered as unemployed had fallen by 357,354 people, a 7.82 percent fall in comparison with a year earlier.

Spain's State Secretary for Employment said this data confirmed a positive trend. "These are encouraging figures which inspire us to continue working for the recovery and employment in 2014," he added.
