First Arab Indo Bollywood Awards enjoys a glorious night in Dubai
The UAE saw what was perhaps its biggest Bollywood extravaganza so far on Friday night at Meydan Racecourse. The first ever Arab Indo Bollywood Awards (AIBA) ended on a successful note with a much awaited performance by Salman Khan though the actor disappointed fans by not making a grand entry via hot air balloon as planned.
He explained “Getting in and out of the hot air balloon took too long so I just walked on to the stage.”
Nevertheless the crowd went berserk the moment Salman appeared on stage. The actor successfully wooed his fans by not only dancing but singing on stage as well. Towards the end of the show the controversial actor was questioned by Karan Johar about who he pairs best with on-screen.
Salman said Katrina Kaif then switched to Jacqueline Fernandez adding that Ranbir Kapoor pairs best with Katrina. Priyanka Chopra instead made the hot air balloon entrance and mesmerized the crowd with her energy and daring moves. Priyanka did promise earlier on that her act would be full of surprises.
After she got done chatting with City Times about AIBA and her upcoming film Dil Dhadakne Do the actress had left immediately for some last minute rehearsals. The Dostana girl who is all set to play a messed up character in Dil Dhadakne Do won the award for best female actress for Mary Kom sharing it with Kangana Ranaut for Queen.
The show opened with Jacqueline Fernandez dressed up as Princess Jasmine from Aladdin performing on her hit numbers from recent times. We were expecting a lot of entertaining jokes from host Karan Johar who is considered one of the most intelligent and wittiest personalities of Bollywood but were disappointed. It was the performances which made up for everything and added a grandiose touch to this flamboyant event.
Salman Khan Priyanka Chopra Parineeti Chopra Varun Dhawan gave their best to the UAE audience. Karan Johar and Shraddha Kapoor burst into an impromptu dance performance on the romantic number Bheege Honth Tere from Murder.
Recent box-office fiasco Bombay Velvet was the butt of jokes for the evening. Almost everyone who came on stage made fun of the biggest debacle of Bollywood in a long time. The show started with host Manish Paul making fun of his co-host Karan Johar (who acted in Bombay Velvet).
