(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The French Foreign Ministry on Monday authenticated a video recording of a woman national who was kidnapped by gunmen in Yemen last February.
The hostage, 30-year-old Isabelle Prime, was working as a consultant for the World Bank when she was kidnapped.
French authorities are working to secure her release, officials said, after they identified the French woman on the video clip that was dated to last April.
"It is a video in which Isabelle Prime appears," a brief statement said in Paris.
The Foreign Ministry said that all its relevant resources were mobilised to secure the release of the hostage and that they were working "with discretion and determination." France does not generally comment on any negotiations with hostage-takers or efforts to get nationals released and Paris denies paying ransom for people being held, although there has been widespread speculation some financial deals are worked through third parties.
