(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The EU Monday stressed that corruption has no place in sports and warned that the integrity of football is at stake in the wake of corruption scandal in FIFA, the world's football's governing body.
"FIFA has been given enough time and chances to reform. Now it's time for change. The integrity of football is at stake. Corruption has no place in sport," Nathalie Vandystadt, a spokeswoman for the European Commission, told a news conference.
She noted that many football fans around the world "have lost patience and they deserve better", and added that the EU will continue to monitor the developments in the FIFA corruption investigation.
