US journalist held by Houthis freed


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) American freelance journalist Casey Coombs was freed on Monday and is en route to Oman after being detained last month by Houthi rebel forces in Yemen, local reports said on Monday.

Coombs was one of at least four Americans who was taken by the Houthis and are beleived to have been held in a facility in Sanaa, the Washington Post indicated.

Coombs, who was based in Sanaa writes for The Intercept along with several other publications. The Washington Post noted that it had known Coombs was one of the prisoners in the rebel's custody but withheld his name in previous reports due to concerns for his safety.
