Kuwait- Public Urged To Report Any Suspicious Movement


(MENAFN- Arab Times) The safety and security of places of worship in Kuwait such as churches and religious temples are everyone's responsibility, Ministry of Interior Undersecretary Lieutenant General Sulaiman Al-Fahad said here Monday.

Religious discrimination, ideological conflicts, and radicalism are breeding ground for inciting sedition, violence, and hatred among people, Al-Fahad said in a press statement following his meeting with representatives of churches in Kuwait.

Kuwait is a country of religious and worship freedoms that make up the basis of the country's constitution, laws, and legislations that prohibit violation of churches' security and guarantee freedom of practising religious rites to all Muslims and Christians in the Kuwaiti society, he said.

Al-Fahad expressed his hope for joint coordination and cooperation in order to boost security measures and counter any move that might harm security of churches and worshipers, stressing the importance to report any suspicious movement immediately to security bodies to enable them to perform their duties quickly and control the crisis.

He also conveyed greetings and appreciation of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah to the guests and reiterated his keenness that all residents of Kuwait should enjoy freedom of belief and worship under safe and secure atmosphere of religious tolerance and coexistence, wishing everyone safe living in Kuwait.

The meeting is part of Al-Fahad's continued series of coordination with all religious authorities and bodies in the country to boost preventive measures and take precautionary security procedures and means to face any security threat in light of current situations and turmoil in the region, said the statement.
