Doha Film Institute sponsors online workshop on animation

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Doha Film Institute (DFI) is sponsoring an online intensive workshop for aspiring animators to be conducted by the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) from June 28 to August 28.

The institute will cover the tuition fees and handle the registration process for up to 10 applicants as part of its commitment to nurture Qatari talent in the filmmaking industry, according to a statement.

The eight-week animation portfolio development workshop by CalArts is designed to help students explore concept design and visual development for animation and enhance their application portfolio for college animation programmes.

Fatma al-Remaihi, CEO of DFI, said: "We are delighted to support Qatari talent in joining one of the most in-demand animation workshops offered by the California Institute of the Arts. It underlines our focus on nurturing the talents of our emerging filmmakers in diverse disciplines associated with cinema, including animation."

Only limited spaces are available for this international online workshop conducted by John Mahoney, who worked as a visual development artist for Disney Feature Animation on films such as Atlantis: The Lost Empire, Treasure Planet and The Emperor's New Groove.

Applications must be submitted to animation@dohafilminstitute.com no later than June 14. More details are available at https://calarts.edu/extended-studies/pdw/animation

Acceptance will be subject to evaluation and approval by the CalArts team.
