Qatar- New system to recruit workers from India

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) The Indian embassy yesterday announced new procedures for recruitment of workers from India.

All foreign employers seeking to recruit Indian workers need to register in the eMigrate system (www.emigrate.gov.in). The duly filled-in registration application will then be scrutinised by the Indian mission.

The employers can then specify their demand for Indian workers on the eMigrate system and seek a permit to recruit directly or select recruiting agents. This has to be done online.

Such employers will be required to declare the terms and conditions of employment of each category of the job at the time of applying for the demand registration.

These terms and conditions will act as a specimen contract and will form part of employment contract at the time of actual recruitment.

The procedure to fill the online form has been explained through videos in the Resources tab of the website (www.emigrate.gov.in), the embassy said yesterday.

The implementation of new system will be done in phases:

-Employers recruiting more than 150 Indian workers are required to register online with immediate effect.

-Those recruiting between 50-150 Indian workers are required to register online before June 30.

- Employers recruiting between 20-50 Indian workers are required to register online before July 31.

- Employers recruiting less than 20 Indian workers are required to register online before September 30. A provision for applying for permit from Registering Authority at the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs is available online for foreign employers who wish to recruit Indian workers directly.
