Renault Samsung S. Korea's sales up 39.5 percent in May

(MENAFN) Renault Samsung Motors Co., the local unit of French automaker Renault S.A., said its sales in May surged 39.5 percent thanks to strong demand from overseas markets, Yonhap News reported.

Renault Samsung said that it sold a total of 18,874 cars last month, up from 13,532 units in 2014. The spike in sales was attributed to its strong overseas sales that soared 101.21 percent to 12,332 units last month.

Its domestic sales, however, fell 11.6 percent to 6,542 units. During the first five months of the year, the automaker sold a cumulative 96,028 units at home and abroad, up 87.3 percent from a year earlier.
