(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Kuwait and UAE have finalized an agreement on organizing air transport services in accordance with the "open skies" principle between the two countries, Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said Sunday.
The agreement reflects the DGCA's keenness on opening new prospects for bilateral cooperation in air transport with Kuwait's friendly countries, in addition to supporting the country's policy by linking Kuwait International Airport to some of most significant and renowned airports around the world, and consolidating bilateral air ties with these countries, DGCA's President Fawaz Al-Farah stated to KUNA.
The deal stipulates that both countries exchange air transport privileges, facilitations, and transportation rights without any operational restrictions in accordance with third and fourth freedoms in order to make it flexible for national carriers in Kuwait and UAE to operate in the future and serve air traffic and air cargo between the two countries, Al-Farah said.
He also expressed his hope that the agreement becomes a continuation of bilateral cooperation between Kuwait and UAE, in which it serves the interest and welfare of the people of both countries.
The deal was first signed last Thursday in Kuwait between DGCA's chief Al-Farah, on behalf of the Kuwaiti government, and Saif Al-Suwaidi, Director General of General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), on behalf of the UAE government.
