Qatar stock index rises 146.19 points


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) index advanced 146.19 points, or 1.23 percent, when the bourse closed Sunday at 12,048.26 points from Thursday's 11,902.07 points.

The market capitalization increased to QR642.56bn from QR633.78bn registered Thursday.

The traded valued declined to QR517.2m with a volume of 16,286,703 shares from 5,842 transactions compared with QR2.67bn with a volume of 86,915,067 shares from 12,996 transactions on Thursday.

From the 43 companies listed on QSE, shares of 39 saw trading today. From these 28 gained, eight declined and three remained unchanged.

Telecom index gained a substantial 7.76 percent today when it closed at 1,262.47 points.

Insurance index slipped 0.41 percent to 4,860.38 points while real estate went down slightly by 0.08 percent to 2,732.49 points.

Consumer goods and services index gained (1.55 percent), industries (1.44 percent), banks and financial (1 percent), and transport (0.51 percent).

QSE Total Return Index gained 1.23 percent (18,723.63 points), QSE Al Rayan Islamic Index 1.56 percent (4,599.65 points), QSE All Share Index 1.13 percent (3,219.84 points).
