(MENAFN- Arab Times) Kuwait Association for Human Rights stated in a press release that the speech delivered recently by HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah at the inaugural ceremony of the 42nd Ministerial Council for the Organization of Islamic Cooperation should be considered as a roadmap for the coming phase to confront challenges and protect the society. Highlighting one of the points made by HH the Amir in the speech regarding the "necessity to take a serious stance to deal with the sectarian escalation that has hit our nations", the association explained that HH the Amir has identified the main points in the major events that took place in the recent phase, which are sectarian and doctrinal conflicts, extremism and terrorism. The matter necessitates unification and increased efforts for forming a joint vision to confront such phenomena.
Tolerance
It stressed, "Even though the country enjoys security, stability and doctrinal tolerance under the wise leadership, it is necessary to work hard for implementing the directives issued by HH the Amir through his speech regarding spreading the culture of tolerance and coexistence, and putting aside hatred, violence, sectarianism and any form of discrimination". Kuwait Association for Human Rights urged Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs to allot new initiatives to improve the religious sermons based on the requirements of the current phase to encourage the Islamic principles of tolerance and moderation.
It also urged Ministry of Education to emphasize the principles of tolerance and respect towards varied opinions and human rights as well as to consider including human rights as a basic subject in the curricula of all educational levels.
Meanwhile, Venezuela praised on Friday Kuwait Declaration adopted at the conclusion of Organization of Islamic Cooperation's Foreign Ministers' meetings, which called for addressing challenges facing the Middle East.
Remarks
The remarks were made during a meeting between Kuwait Ambassador to Venezuela Mohammad Al-Shabo and Venezuela Foreign Relations Minister Delcy Rodriguez, a statement by Kuwait Embassy in Caracas said, a copy of which sent to KUNA Washington DC. The two sides discussed bilateral relations and ways to boost them in all fields. The Venezuelan minister asserted on her country keenness to strengthen its relations with Arab countries and unite efforts with Kuwait in international arenas, in particular on international legitimacy and humanitarian issues under UN and OPEC umbrellas.
Hosted in Kuwait in the past two days, the 42nd Meeting of Council of Foreign Ministers of OIC, stressed in their final communique on analyzing the hazards and challenges facing the Muslim World, under the slogan "Joint Vision to Strengthen Tolerance and Reject Terrorism." Last night, Kuwait Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al- Hamad Al-Sabah said, in a joint press conference with OIC Secretary General Dr Iyad Madani, that the Declaration is expressive of the concerns toward "these conditions, and the necessity of handling them in a way conducive to security and stability we aspire for."
OIC members responded to the regional and international conditions, comprising major themes such as the aggravating challenges imposed by terrorism. Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled added that the Muslim World is suffering from "repugnant terrorism" putting on an "Islamic mask that distorted the true image of the religion that actually calls for tolerance, moderation and openness.
