Solar plane begins flight across Pacific in world record bid


(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) A Swiss pilot launched a record-breaking solo flight bid early Sunday from eastern China across the Pacific Ocean in an aircraft powered entirely by sunlight, dap reported.

Andre Borschberg, a 62-year-old former Swiss air force pilot, took
off 2:45 am local time (18:45 GMT) to start a six-day journey to the
islands of Hawaii.

If he is successful, Broschberg will break the world record for the
longest solo flight in history in any plane by more than two days.
