ArabNet to support enterprises

Dubai — The third edition of the ArabNet kicked off on Wednesday with three key themes set to drive the conference agenda innovation investment and smart government.

Bringing together like-minded individuals from across the digital sphere the two-day ArabNet has returned to Dubai. Designed to support regional enterprises through the digital transformation the event attracts more than 100 top experts who share the best practices to help senior executives manage the digital shift impacting the core of their operations.

“Dubai is the perfect destination for such an event as it is rapidly becoming a global innovation hub and a world-class smart city not only in infrastructure and governmental services but also in efficiency economic opportunity and the free flow of people and ideas” Omar Christidis founder and chief executive officer of ArabNet said in his opening remarks. Highlighting the leaps in innovation witnessed in the Middle East and North African (Mena) region over the past five years Christidis set the stage for the full two-day conference that attracts top international and regional digital leaders. “This year we are excited to partner with Smart Dubai to share the plans for Dubai’s smart government initiatives and to highlight enterprises that are investing in digital technology and helping build Dubai’s smart economy” he added.

Christidis also highlighted the rising VCs and corporate VCs and investment interest in the region in addition to the growing involvement of governments.

As an example Dubai Silicon Oasis and Detec in addition to over 100 partners and sponsors are taking part in the event and will cover over 35 panels talks and discussions on innovation digital media and marketing entrepreneurship startups government VCs and angel investors in addition to accelerators.

“In the world of e-business marketplaces are dominating the landscape. The proof of this is the landmark acquisition of Talabat by Rocket Internet Group for $170 million and the region’s biggest pure e-commerce player Souq.com is rumored to be raising $300 million at a valuation of more than $1 billion likely making it the first Arab unicorn. These marketplaces are booming across domains” said Christidis.
