UAE- 20 businesses honoured for excellence


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) 12.5% growth in number of participating companies at 8th cycle of MRM Business Award.

Dubai — The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Wednesday announced the conclusion of the eighth cycle of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Award by honouring 20 companies at an award ceremony held at the Madinat Jumeirah Arena.

The high profile award ceremony was attended by Shaikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Deputy Ruler of Dubai; Shaikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum president of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and chairman and CEO of Emirates airline and group and ministers heads of government departments dignitaries board members of Dubai Chamber representatives of business councils and groups a large number of businessmen and members of the media.

The winners from a cross-section of business establishments were honoured for their exceptional performance in fostering growth and innovation and a culture of excellence in the country and the region.

The award in the finance category went to Emirates NBD Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank Union National Bank and Sharjah Islamic Bank.

The awards in the services category were presented to World Security du RAK Hospital and British Orchard Nursery.

The trade category awards were presented to Arabian Automobiles Union Cooperative Society Eppco Lubricants and Aster Pharmacy Group.

Awards in the manufacturing category were presented to Drydocks World — Dubai and Kimoha Entrepreneurs Ltd.

The award in the transport and logistics category was received by School Transport Services LLC while the award in the construction category was received by NPCC — National Petroleum Construction Company.

The GCC companies receiving the awards were Saudi Arabia-based KiCE Manufacturing as well as Bahrain-based Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company in the manufacturing category and Oman-based Gulf Energy SAOC and Saudi Arabia’s Innovative Solutions in the services category.

The Most Outstanding Performance Award for the year 2014 in UAE went to Arabian Automobiles whereasthe Most Outstanding Performance Award for the year 2014 in the GCC went to Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company in Bahrain.

A special recognition trophy was presented to Abdul Rahman Saif Al Ghurair chairman Dubai Chamber for his valuable contribution to Dubai’s business community.

In his welcome address Majed Al Shamsi first vice-chairman Dubai Chamber said that the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Award is not just an award for honouring outstanding companies but it is also an integral part of an intensive qualification programme based on international best business practices and includes seminars and training workshops and a club for exchange of business performance strategies processes operations and performance results according to the latest concepts.

In his keynote address UAE Minister of Economy Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri who was also chairman of the panel of judges of the award said that he is witness to the growing importance of the excellence award which has kept pace with the latest trends in global best business excellence practices by adopting new standards in evaluation practices.

This has ultimately contributed to the strengthening of the status of the award and its reputation as a catalyst of institutional performance in the UAE and the Gulf region.

Al Mansouri pointed out that the award in its current cycle has registered a 12.5 per cent growth in the number of participating companies compared to its previous cycles thus bringing the number of companies over the past eight cycles to more than 1200 which reflects on the award’s reputation as a tool of excellence in institutional performance and success.

Hamad Buamim president and CEO of Dubai Chamber and chairman of the steering committee of the award informed that the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Award has been spreading a culture of excellence in the UAE for many years and is now doing so across the GCC.
