Lidman Frank wins Xerox Corporate Golf Challenge Round 6
(MENAFN- Arab News) RIYADH: Ronny Lidman and Jan Frank combined for 49 points the equivalent of 13-under in medal play to become the champion team during the 6th qualifying round of the Xerox Corporate Golf Challenge 2015 last Saturday at Dirab Golf & Country Club on the outskirts of Riyadh.
The winning pair poured 26 points on the front nine with Frank accounting for 18 of them in the pairs better ball Stableford format event with handicap allowance for each team that awards 1 points for bogey 2 for par 3 for birdie and 4 for eagle. They returned 23 points coming with Lidman on 12 and Frank on 11 points.
Lidman and Frank had handicap allowance of 18.
The runner-up team on 48 (23-25) was the pair of John Molony and Michael Holland who played off 11 handicap. In third place was the Korean pair of Ill Joong Kim and Mira Jung with 16 handicap on 47.
Filipinos Oscar Domingo and Fem Baracoso took the fourth position on countback from Steve Thompson and Michael Slater after the sides tied on 44 points. When the backnine scores were compared to break the tie Doming-Baracoso tallied 21 and Thompson-Slater 20. The Filipino tandem played off 13 handicap and Thompson-Slater 14.
On-course competitions included Aramex's Hole 11 Nearest the Pin claimed by Adam Donahue; Ecco's Hole 4 Nearest the Pin won by Graham Gunn; PWS's Longest Drive hole 10 won by Phil Gandier; and Crystal Gallery's Ladies Longest Drive hole 17 won by Hyjin Byoun.
Through each of the GCC-based qualifiers the top 2 placed teams earn a berth to play for the ultimate title in the Xerox Corporate Golf Challenge Grand Final in Ras Al Khaimah.
