OIC chief upbeat about Kuwait presidency

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Iyad Madani affirmed Thursday that Kuwait's presidency of the OIC's 42nd ministerial meeting is set to witness great achievements.

"Our priorities will include reviewing, acting, and striving upon implementing the ministerial council's resolutions, in addition to taking in consideration recommendations that have been pointed out during discussions," Madani said in his speech at the conclusion of the 42nd meeting.

He also expressed hope that all member countries take part in discussing the Yemeni issue in an extraordinary session as part of the forthcoming ministerial council's meeting in Jeddah on June 16th.

Madani also expressed the general secretariat's welcoming of Cambodia's request to join the OIC as an observer state, in addition to South Africa's renewal request of its membership at the organization, noting that the two requests are to be subjected to systematic procedures, and to be submitted at the next ministerial meeting in Tashkent.
