Kuwait's Amir inaugurates 42nd session of OIC Foreign Ministers' Council

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, on Wednesday, opened the 42nd meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), hosted by Kuwait, with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs, Nasser Judeh.

Addressing the opening session, the Sheikh Sabah said the meeting comes in the light of political and security challenges the world, particularly the Muslim world, is facing.

"We should work together to address these challenges," he said, adding: "We as Muslim states, are responsible to correct the distorted image of Islam, to show the true image of Islam and its tolerant human values to the world." He stressed support to Iraq to maintain its security, stability, sovereignty and unity against the terrorist Daesh group.

On the Palestinian issue, the Amir said the Israeli violations against the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the continuing construction of settlements exacerbate the suffering of the Palestinian people.

The solution to the Syrian crisis would be only found away from war and by moving towards peaceful means, the Amir said.
