Kuwait's Minister Orders Backpay For Office Boys

(MENAFN- Arab Times) Some 30 office boys gathered at the Ministry of Education recently to protest against the holdup of their salaries. The workers have not been paid since March and they held a sit-in to convey their grievance to the concerned authority, reports Al-Seyassah daily. Based on the development, the Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Bader Al-Essa dealt with the issue by assigning the Finance Sector to disburse three months salaries to the office boys highest within one week. He warned against repeating the incident with other employees of the ministry, and called for neutrality among all employees by approving their deserved rights.

Meanwhile, the protestors expressed resentment on the repeated delay in disbursing their salaries, which they say is becoming a monthly nightmare but "all we need is to receive our full rights". They requested the transfer of their contracts from the company to the Ministry of Education as stipulated in the contracts of the service executors in Farwaniya Educational Zone who have been appointed directly through the ministry, as specified by Civil Service Commission (CSC).

They added "we have huge responsibilities to carry out, covering rent, school fees and other expenses that increase with the approach of Ramadan". They implored the officials to end their suffering by approving a system of disbursing their salaries without delay.
