The final frontier of UAE's ambitions: paper

(MENAFN- Emirates News Agency (WAM)) A UAE paper has said that in an era when the world is mired in upheavals and even the West is taking a backseat in terms of investing in the future, the UAE stands out as the lone leader in scientific exploration and modernising its infrastructure.

"The UAE has big plans to extend its outreach in the space. Apart from its ambitious 'Hope Probe' mission to Mars by 2021, which coincides with the country's 50th anniversary of the union, sky is the limit to say the least," said Khaleej Times in an editorial on Thursday.

The newly-created National Space Agency will thus undertake research with the explicit objective of making the UAE the leader in the region in terms of space exploration. It is no mean task that the agency will establish the Middle East's first Space Research Centre, with a seed fund of AED100 million, in partnership with the UAE University and the Telecommunication Regulatory Authority.

This invariably underscores the confidence of the country and its leadership in the local talent, as well as the vision to develop the UAE among the comity of nations. It also speaks high of economic growth and the agenda to interlink various communication and academic channels for the betterment of the people and to make the UAE one of the most modern countries of the world.

In an era when the world is mired in upheavals and even the West is taking a backseat in terms of investing in the future, the UAE stands out as the lone leader in scientific exploration and modernising its infrastructure. As righty stated by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, the "Hope Probe and the UAE Space Agency are milestones for the development of the UAE". Building a new space sector will ultimately value-added to national economy, technical knowledge, human capital, and international reputation.

The fact that Dubai is home to Expo 2020 and is likely to see a bonanza in growth and infrastructure development merely underscores the rise of the Emirates. It is second to none in terms of offering a secure society to live in as well as opportunities for business and development.

"Dubai, and the UAE, which are already the hub for travel and tourism are likely to see exponential growth as the country ventures into the space. Moon and the Mars are set to be the next stops for the UAE," concluded the daily.
