For his part, Sheikh Ali bin Nasser bin Hamad Al Mahrouqi, Secretary-General of the Shura Council of the Sultanate of Oman Chairman of the previous session stressed that holding these meetings and their continuity is a positive indicator reflecting clear indications on the importance this meeting in enhancing the fraternal ties between the Gulf councils and promoting prospects of coordination and cooperation them.
In his speech before the opening session, he stressed that these meetings have achieved concrete and positive results in several areas especially in the informational side, the exchange of expertise, joint training programs and collective visits to a number of regional and international parliaments.
He praised the sincere efforts and ability being exerted by all concerned parties especially the standing committees on organizing these meetings and implementing the outcomes of the 17th Meeting.
Mahrooqi thanked HE the Speaker of the Qatari Advisory Council for sponsoring this meeting, praising the good preparation and the great efforts made to ensure its success, which would have a significant impact to outcome with postive inputs and purposeful results aimed at serving the joint cooperation, integration and coordination among the GCC legislative councils in terms of enriching the capabilities of the general secretariats' technical and administrative capacities and functions.
Secretary-General of the Arab Parliament, Dr. Abdulnasser Mohammed Janahi Al-Abbassi, hailed the these GCC parliamentary councils' meetings and their fruitful routcomes in the field of joint cooperation.
He pointed out that the Parliaments' ' Secretariat is considered an important hub in parliamentary work as it performs the necessary tasks to support the Parliament and its organs in exerting legislative, political, regulatory and advisory powers and responsibilities.
