Sirens sound in southern Israel


(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) Air raid sirens sounded in southern Israel on Tuesday amid reports that four rockets landed in the area.

"Rocket sirens recently sounded near Ashkelon," the Israeli army said on Twitter.

"Initial reports suggest 1 rocket was fired from Gaza," it added.

Police spokeswoman Luba Samri said in a statement that sirens had blared out in Lachish district in southern Israel.

According to Israeli radio, four rockets had landed in Lachish district.

No casualties were reported.

Israeli channel 7, meanwhile, reported that a rocket had been fired from the Gaza Strip into Ashdod city in southern Israel.

There was no comment from Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip on the report.
