The four-day snap military exercises, ordered by Russian President Vladimir Putin, began on Monday.

"The air defense units involved in the snap inspection of the Central Military District’s aviation grouping and air defense troops have completed redeployment to the designated areas at the Kapustin Yar and Ashuluk testing ranges," the press release read.

Some 12,000 servicemen, 250 aircraft and almost 700 pieces of military hardware are taking part in the drills.
