(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) The sultanate represented by the Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA) is taking part in the 17th World Meteorological Organization (WMO) conference that began in Geneva on Monday.
The sultanate's delegation is being led by Dr Mohammed bin Nasser bin Ali al Zaabi CEO of PACA. Addressing the gathering Dr Zaabi stressed the importance of climate change. He said that WMO is playing an important role by evaluating and controlling the risks and effects of climate change.
Dr Zaabi said that the sultanate is one of the first signatories to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. He said that the sultanate had recently established the National Multi Hazard Early Warning System and organised a conference on alleviating tsunami risks in the west of the Indian Ocean. The conference will conclude on June 12.
