GCC commemorates 34th anniversary
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) GCC Secretariat commemorated Tuesday the 34th anniversary of the Gulf Cooperation Council, in a ceremony held under auspices of Governor of Riyadh Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz.
Secretary General Abdullateef Al-Zayani, in a speech, expressed gratitude for leaders of the GCC countries and their keenness on supporting common march for the sake of development and prosperity of the Gulf people.
The GCC, he said, succeeded in boosting its role at the regional and international level as well as supporting development in other countries around the world.
Al-Zayani said the political and security developments in the region posed critical challenges for the GCC countries, which were determined to address them to preserve security and stability "of this vital region." He said the GCC countries have proven they were capable of helping the Yemeni people and their legitimate leadership.
Al-Zayani said the Riyadh conference that grouped Yemeni parties would contribute to the resumption of political process and reconstruction of Yemen.
