Aura Energy extends Mauritania uranium exploration portfolio

Aura Energy (ASX:AEE) has applied for a 224 square kilometre exploration permit immediately south of its Hippolyte uranium resource in Mauritania.

Hippolyte South contains strong uranium responses in regional airborne radiometric data similar in strength and size to those over Aura's nearby resource.

The anomalies within this new tenement extend for in excess of 15 kilometres and cover an area of approximately 10 square kilometres.

In 2011 Aura carried out a brief reconnaissance drilling programme over these radiometric highs as part of a possible joint venture arrangement over the area.

This drilling was broadly spaced with holes 200 metres apart on lines 800 metres or more apart.

More than 25% of these reconnaissance holes intersected ore-grade mineralisation with values ranging up to 646ppm U3O8.
