The Group consolidates position as top Qatar brokerage


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) The Group Securities continued to consolidate its position as topper in Qatar's brokerage business by grabbing 31.24 percent of the total value of shares traded on Qatar Exchange (QE) in the first quarter of 2015 (Q1, 15), on cumulative basis. Through a total of 348,106 transactions, the combined value of total shares traded by the brokerage company hit QR19bn in March, 2015.

The market share of the Group Securities jumped to 44.88 percent of the total traded stocks in April, 2015, snatching 33.53 percent of the total value of shares traded on the local bourse during the month.

QNB Financial Services, the brokerage arm of QNB Group, garnered 18.19 percent share of the total traded value in Q1, 15, up from 16.54 percent posted in the previous quarter. Total value of shares traded by QNBFS in this quarter stood at QR11bn.

According to QE's trading activity data for the month of March 2015, the Group Securities accounts for 42.84 percent of the total transactions on the bourse, with a share of 29.56 percent of the total traded value during the month. However, the Group's total number of transactions is down to 92,448 in March 2015, from 211,234 transactions recorded in March 2014. Total traded value slipped to QR4bn from QR10bn on year-on-year basis.

Dlala Brokerage acquired 10.10 percent of trading value (QR6.39bn) in the first quarter, compared to 10.76 percent (QR8.94bn) of the total traded value during the same period in 2014. Its share during the March accounted for nine percent of the total traded value compared to 9.13 percent a year ago.

Qatar Securities' share was 8.85 percent (QR5.60bn) against 10.40 percent (QR8.64bn) during the corresponding period in 2014.CBQ Investment Services' market share stood 7.49 percent (QR4.74bn) in Q1, 15 against 5.81 percent (QR4.82bn) during the corresponding period in 2014.

The Gulf Investment Group grabbed 6.57 percent share (QR4.15bn) of the trading value in the first quarter against 7.46 percent (QR6.20bn) during the corresponding period in 2013. Islamic Securities' share stood at 4.14 percent (QR3.36bn) during the period. The brokerage firm's April 2015 share of the total traded value accounted for 5.62 percent with QR940m.

International Securities' share in the brokerage market was 6.51 percent (QR4.11bn) in Q1, 15, down from 8.33 percent during the same period in 2014. Dlala-Islamic Brokerage clutched 3.28 percent (2.07bn) of the total traded value, against 2.98 percent (QR2.4bn) recorded ruing the corresponding period in 2014.

The market share of Al Ahli Brokerage rose to 1.60 percent in the first quarter of this year, from 1.29 percent recorded in Q1, 2014. Al Rayan Financial Brokers' market share stood at 0.53 percent, up from 0.44 percent.
