UAE Project Management Conference opens opportunities and challenges in project management field


(MENAFN- Emirates News Agency (WAM)) The first UAE Project Management Conference and Exhibition was launched yesterday. It was attended by speakers from the UAE, the Gulf Region, and experts from international organisations who shared their experiences and expertise in the field of engineering.

600 participants from national and international engineering associations, engineers from government sectors and private entities, representatives from consultant and contracting firms, architects, design managers, facilities managers and project managers from 30 countries attended and witnessed the event.

Dr. Khalid Mohammed Al Zahed, CEO, Strategy and Development in the office of the Crown Prince of Dubai, said that the first UAE Project Management Conference, under the theme, "Mastering Project Management in Megaprojects", comes at the defining moment in history of development in the UAE as the state at the federal level is launching local megaprojects in accordance with the UAE Vision 2021, the time when Dubai is preparing for big event, Expo 2020 Dubai, that requires the completion of the appropriate infrastructure and the management of strategic projects that are the dominant feature of this period in the history of the UAE.

The conference addressed many important topics, such as risk management in megaprojects in a smart way to analyse and anticipate the study of risk and sustainability in major projects, risk factors and success in megaprojects, the rules of professional planning in project management and excellence in project management.

A Young Engineers Forum running alongside the conference was attended by nearly 200 engineering students and fresh graduates from different universities in the UAE, and highlighted the lessons learned from major projects management, how the factors influence the techniques of project management on the success and value of project management, factors of the successes of effective and value engineering management in megaprojects, and integration and sustainability in a successful project management.
