National project provides 48,000 jobs in Jordan


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) The Arab Importer and Exporter Union on Tuesday said it has adopted all necessary measures for the implementation of a national project on social development in Jordan, which contributes toward advancing economic and social development and providing employment opportunities.

The project aims to create 4,800 small and micro projects each year that create products appropriate for export. These ventures are distributed across the Kingdom and will provide direct and indirect employment to 48,000 people, annually.

Secretary-general of the union Massad Rashid reviewed the programs included in the project. The most prominent of these were the French embroidery project, which attaches gems to fabrics, and the project encouraging the use of laser technology in small and micro industries and a number of sub-programs.

The projects will target all segments of society, including households headed by a woman, people with special needs, young people of both genders, and the elderly and will contribute significantly to the fight against poverty as well as lower unemployment rates.
