Korean Air wins USD45.56m contract from US Marine Corps


(MENAFN) South Korea's top air carrier Korean Air Lines Co. said it has won a USD45.56 million deal to perform maintenance on the US Marine Corps' transport helicopters, Yonhap News reported.

Under the deal, Korean Air will be in charge of the depot maintenance of some 40 CH-53 Sea Stallion heavy-lift transport helicopters that are currently operated by US Marines based in Japan, the air carrier said.

The contract will last for five years until 2020. The latest order is the second such deal for the South Korean airline. It conducted similar services for CH-53 helicopters between 1989 and 2010.
