Qatar trade surplus decreases 50 percent in Q1


(MENAFN) The Qatari trade excess decreased by 50 percent in the first quarter of the year, reaching USD14.48 billion, dragged down by the lower energy exportations, The Peninsula reported.

The figure compares with the USD29.12 billion registered in the corresponding period last year. Qatari overall exportations hit USD22.5 billion in the quarter, falling about 38 percent year-on-year.

"The Q1 2014 to Q1 2015 decline in total exports reflected decreases mainly in petroleum gases and other gaseous hydrocarbons by USD10.34b or 40.8 percent." The Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics (MDPS) said.
