Oman, Iran discuss regional issues


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif is expected to hold talks with senior Omani officials later on Tuesday on a host of regional issues, it was officially reported early today.

Omani Foreign Ministry said the top Iranian diplomat, who arrived in the country earlier, would hold talks with Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, the Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs, on bilateral ties, issues of joint concern and conditions in Yemen. Topics related to Tehran's ties with Western powers would be also examined.

Zarif visited the Sultanate in March.

Oman is a member state of the Gulf Cooperation Council. Iran and Oman enjoy strategic locations at the vital Hormuz strait through which bulk of regional oil production passes to world markets.
