Serviceman kills 8 colleagues in Tunis

(MENAFN- Emirates News Agency (WAM)) Spokesman for the National Defence Ministry of Tunis, Belhassen Oueslati, has said that eight servicemen were killed and 10 others wounded, including one seriously, in Boushusha shooting, which he said is "an isolated act," the official news agency, TAP has reported.

Speaking to reporters the Spokesman said that the gunner soldier, who was also shot dead, was a corporal who had been transferred to a "non-sensitive" unit and had been prohibited from using arms.

During the flag-raising ceremony, a soldier stabbed his colleague on guard in the Bushusha military barracks, in Bardo, before grabbing his arm and opened fire on the other servicemen.

An investigation is underway to determine the circumstances and causes of this act.
