UAE partakes in LAS water technical advisory committee's meeting


(MENAFN- Emirates News Agency (WAM)) The UAE is participating in the 12th meeting of the Technical Advisory Committee of the Arab Ministerial Water Council at the League of Arab States, LAS.

The UAE delegation to the meeting includes Abdul Nasser Al Shamsi, from the Ministry of Environment and Water, and Ahmed Al Mazrouei, from the Ministry of Energy.

Gamal Gaballah, Director of the Arab League's Department of Environment, Housing, Water Resources and Sustainable Development, said that high on the agenda of the meeting is the preparation of an executive plan for a strategy on pan-Arab water security.

He said the plan which was approved by the Arab Summit in Baghdad, Iraq, in 2012, will be submitted to the Arab Summit for Economic and Social Development, to be held in Tunisia, or to the 27th Arab Summit, to be held in Morocco in 2016.

Gaballah also noted that the meeting is discussing preparations to hold an international conference on Arab water resources in the occupied territories this year.
