Qatar University Pact to Boost Agricultural Research


(MENAFN- QNA) Qatar University College of Arts and Sciences (QU-CAS) and Qatar's Al Sulaiteen Agriculture Research, Studies and Training Center (SARSTC) have signed a five-year agreement to boost scientific research and training in agriculture, QU said Sunday.

QU President Prof Sheikha Abdulla Al-Misnad and SARSTC Chairman Abdullah Salem Al Sulaiteen singed the agreement in the presence of CAS members.

Praising the Center for boosting Qatar's agriculture, Prof Al-Misnad said, "This agreement will enhance the experience of our biological and environmental sciences students and prepare them to contribute actively to the needs and aspirations of our society." Al Sulaiteen said, "This MoU is the culmination of a series of agreements that SARSTC signed with a number of institutions both within and outside Qatar." The agreement aims to spur scientific research and development in agriculture, water, renewable energy, food security, agricultural production systems, management, marketing opportunities, nutritional security and diet diversification.

Students will get training and gain hands-on experience in agriculture, and will contribute to  developing joint proposals for research grants between the two institutions, QU said.
