MasterCard, Target USD19m settlement plan fails

(MENAFN) MasterCard and Target's USD19 million settlement plan, originally implemented to come to terms with 2013 data breach, have failed due to lack of support, The Next Digit reported.

The settlement plan entailed that the two firms must pay a sum of around USD19 million to various financial institutions. However, the plan didn't go as it was supposed to because the two failed to agree with enough banks to finalize the deal.

The hefty amount of the settlement can be considered the price for the huge data breach that took place in the year 2013, leaving behind a huge amount of confidential and personal data out in the open.
