World Economic Forum concludes in Jordan


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Word Economic Forum (WEF) concluded its three-day events at the Dead Sea area in the Kingdom Saturday, which saw participation of 1,300 international economic, political, and academic figures.

Participating businessmen reiterated their commitment to create 100,000 jobs in the region by 2017, Klaus Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman of WEF, said on the sidelines of the forum's closing ceremony, adding that nine of the forum's affiliate regional partners have also pledged to launch new initiatives in order to accomplish this goal.

For his part, Miroslav Dusek, Senior Director, Head of Middle East and North Africa in WEF, said most dialogues and discussions during this year's forum focused on the various transformations that took place in the region, and finding ways to preserve youth generation's dignity in light of current events taking place in the region.

Participants discussed cooperation importance between public and private sectors in facing challenges and implementing ideas and initiatives, Dusek said, noting that the forum also discussed causes of radicalism, Palestinian-Israeli talks to reach the two-state solution, implementing strategic infrastructure projects, support anti-violence/terrorism efforts in Syria, Iraq, and Yemen.

Meanwhile, the forum held a closing session, entitled "Addressing Violent Extremism: A Shared Responsibility," with participation of Mohammad Jaafar, Chairman and CEO of Kuwaiti Danish Dairy Company (KCSC), in addition to Iraqi Vice-President Ayad Allawi, and Iraqi Deputy Premier Saleh Al-Mutlaq.


The session discussed monitoring messages received by children online, and remaking educational policies in order to bring up next generations on tolerance and love values, Jaafar told KUNA.

It also stressed the importance of cooperation between all society's sectors, including public, private, and civil in order to create a trust among each one of them when facing challenges in the region.

The private sector is part of the efforts exerted by world powers to fight the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIL), the Kuwaiti businessman said, affirming that such efforts are important to rid the entire region of that terrorist group and establish security and stability in the region.
