Oman Philately Association holds first exhibition


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Marking a year of its formation the Oman Philately Association (OPA) on Thursday opened an exhibition at the Muscat Grand Mall under the auspices of H E Eng Saif bin Amir al Shaqsy Undersecretary in the Ministry of Housing. 

The opening was also marked by the release of a new association logo and issuance of special stamps. Sultan bin Hilal al Habsi chairman OPA said the exhibition is just one of the efforts being made towards taking the association ahead. In the one year from its formation it has made several achievements and bagged regional and global awards Habsi said.

Habsi added 'We will be issuing new stamps for the 45th National Day. It is a special occasion.' H E Eng Shaqsy said 'Culture cannot be replaced by technology. History lives on. I think this is  the reason behind collectors' enthusiasm.'

On display are stamps dating back many years and which now have a high commemorative and cultural value. The exhibition will run till Monday.
