The US Department Of Agriculture Announces Financial Funding For Organic Providers


(MENAFNEditorial) On May 15 2015 the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) announced that organic certification assistance with an amount of $11.9 million has been readily available for organic providers and handlers across the country.

"The organic industry saw record growth in 2014 accounting for over $39 billion in retail sales in the U.S." said Agriculture Secretary Tom Visack. 

The money provided by the USDA is given on a cost share basis and certification assistance is allotted by two programs. Through the National Certification Cost Share Program $11 million is allotted to organic farms and firms nationwide. On the other hand the Agricultural Management Assistance Organic Certification Cost Share Program (AMA) added $900000 for organic providers (crop and livestock operators only) in Delaware Hawaii  Connecticut Maryland Maine Massachusetts New Hampshire Nevada New York New Jersey Pennsylvania Rhode Island Vermont West Virginia And Wyoming. In 2014 Farm Bill Programs provided cost share assistance to USDA certified organic providers and handlers accommodating as much as 75 percent of an individual petitioner's certification costs up to a total of $750 annually per certification scope. On the same year USDA supplied approximately 10000 remunerations totaling over $6 million. The said reimbursements provided critical support to the organic community.

The main objective of USDA is to conserve organic products connect and provide assistance to organic farmers and firms with resources that ensure the stability and productivity of the organic industry. During this administration there were 4 major organic arrangements which USDA signed in to. These arrangements have helped organic stakeholders grab the opportunity to reach programs that support conservation access to financial loans and grants fund systematic organic research and education and alleviate pest emergencies. The National Organic Program (NOP) protects the integrity of the organic label and has assisted the sector improve to include over 27000 firms around the globe.
