Venezuela Raises Diplomatic Representation in Palestine to Ambassadorial Level

(MENAFN- QNA) The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela has raised its representation with Palestine to ambassadorial level.

The decision was announced by Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, during a meeting with Palestinian Foreign Minister Riad Al-Malki and Palestine ambassadors accredited to the Americas.

On the occasion, President Maduro conveyed his greetings to the Palestinian people who remained "steadfast under occupation", emphasizing the depth of the historical ties between the two countries and the Venezuelan government's unwavering support for the government and people of Palestine and their just causes.

Yesterday, the Palestinian Foreign Minister oversaw at the Venezuelan capital of Caracas the conclusion of the first conference of Palestinian ambassadors accredited to the Americas.

Venezuela has started its diplomatic representation in Palestine by opening a Consulate General in Ramallah in 2005, with its first representative named in 2006. In September 2009 Venezuela severed diplomatic ties with Israel and expelled the Israeli Ambassador and all diplomatic staff from Caracas to protest the 2009 Israeli aggression on Gaza Strip.
