Kuwaiti Jiu Jitsu team participates in West Asia tournament


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Kuwait's Brazilian Jiu Jitsu team will head to Beirut, Lebanon on Thursday to take part in the three-day West Asia tournament.

The Kuwaiti team includes seven players competing in the categories of under 85 kg, under 77 kg and under 62 kg, administrative official of the delegation Khaled Al-Saleh told KUNA on Wednesday.

The tournament will see the participation of players from Bahrain, UAE, Yemen, Palestine, Jordan, Syria, Iraq, Iran and Lebanon, said Al-Saleh.

He also noted that all participants will undergo the weight measuring process tomorrow, while the actual fights will take place on Saturday and Sunday.

Kuwait's participation in the event is part of the Olympic Committee's plans to prepare players to compete in international martial arts events, said Al-Saleh, adding that the number of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) practitioners in the country had increased prominently in the past few years.
