Indonesia And UK To Cooperate On Sharia Stock Market Development

JAKARTA May 21 2015—Indonesia and UK are ready to cooperate in sharia finance sector including sharia stock market.

In a visit to IDX building Lord Mayor of the City of London Alderman Alan Yarrow led UK business delegations to visit Indonesia on 19-21 May.

The visit is also to ensure that UK will remain regional cooperation partner in terms of professional and financial service including with Indonesia.

Here delegations from London will meet senior officers investors policy makers and business elites. The theme of discussion is banking cooperation and sharia stock market in which delegations will present about their experience and skill in this sector. 

With Asean’s good economy Indonesia is a very crucial market for UK.

“We will support this. We want to promote cooperation potency between both countries. I want to show that UK is a leader in financial community in western hemisphere” said Alan after opening first trade session in IDX Wednesday (5/20).

Nurhaida Executive Chair of Capital Marlet Supervision Financial Service Authority said this is the fourth visit by the delegations particularly to IDX. This year they will also visit FSA. 

“In UK the sukuk market is very active and liquid we want to listen to them and compare notes about the success so we can consider implementing it in Indonesia. There is no MoU yet we just talk about it” she said. Read more..
