Iraqi President Calls for International Conference for Displaced


(MENAFN- QNA) Iraqi President Fuad Masum stressed the need to convene an international conference for the displaced in Iraq with the participation of all international organizations so as to provide the necessary support to them and alleviate their suffering.

Masum affirmed the necessity to achieve the national reconciliation process following a meeting with the UN Secretary-General's special representative for Iraq Jan Kubis.

He praised the efforts of the UN mission in supporting the Iraqi people and providing the humanitarian assistance, particularly in difficult circumstances facing the country.

Meanwhile, the Iraqi President also met today the Regional Director of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Adam Abdel Mawla.

Discussions during the meeting focused on UNDP's activities and projects in helping Iraqis to restore normal life in liberated areas and provide the necessary services in all fields.
