(MENAFN- Emirates News Agency (WAM)) A new edition of FAO's annual State of Food Insecurity in the World report will be released on 27 May 2015. The new "UN hunger report" will both provide new figures for the number of chronically hungry people in the world as well as take stock of progress made towards achieving the Millennium Development Goal (MDG1) and World Food Summit hunger targets. In 2015 the MDG process will come to an end and the world will transition to a new, successor post-2015 Sustainable Development Agenda.
The State of Food Insecurity in the World raises awareness about global hunger issues, discusses underlying causes of hunger and malnutrition and monitors progress towards hunger reduction targets.
