Jordan calls to promote trade ties with Bulgaria

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Jordan's Honorary Consul in Bulgaria, Hassan Barmawi, has called for opening an air route between Amman and the Bulgarian capital of Sofia to boost mutual trade and tourism exchanges.

He said the coming period will see active tourism movement towards Jordan because of the good reputation, stability and security enjoyed by the Kingdom, citing the desire of the "Bulgarian friends" who are willing to visit Jordan, especially its religious sites.

Jordan has several bilateral agreements with Bulgaria, including a trade agreement signed in 2001, cooperation agreement concerning air services reached in 1992, an economic cooperation agreement signed in 1977 and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) about recognition of civil marine certificates, signed earlier this month.

A number of charter flights are in the plans to transfer Bulgarians to Jordan after the Holy Month of Ramadan, Barmawi told Petra.

Also, he called on public and private sectors to intensify visits to Bulgaria to open new markets and improve the trade balance, especially since Jordanian products enjoy a high reputation there, describing the Republic of Bulgaria as a promising country economically.
