Jordan's Planning minister briefs US delegation on Jordan's reform process


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Imad Najib Fakhoury briefed Deputy Under Secretary for International Trade at the U.S. Department of Commerce Ken Hyatt, and a US trade delegation, on the comprehensive economic, social, administrative and political reforms carried out by Jordan under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II.

The minister also spoke about accomplishments made by Privatisation Evaluation Committee as well as Jordan's success in implementing the recent financial reform program that reflected on economic stability despite regional conditions affecting Jordan, starting with the disruption in Egyptian gas supplies as well as the influx of Syrian refugees into the Kingdom.

Fakhoury said Jordan will usher in a new economic era that will witness development in the investment and business sectors.

He also reviewed mechanism adopted by the government to prepare the 2025 vision as well as initiatives and national priorities that the document focuses on, mainly regarding enhancing partnership between the public and private sectors.

"Work is underway to prepare the executive program for the years 2016-2018, included in the first phase of the document with a focus on national priorities," he said.

The US official praised Jordan's pivotal role under the leadership of His Majesty the King and voiced readiness to cooperate with the initiatives of the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation, mainly in strategic planning and ensuring competitiveness.
